Forums Update

I just finished updating bbPress to the latest version and installing several anti spam plugins + mass user deletes. If you have never posted to the forums, your id was deleted, along with several who posted in the last week or so, so if it makes you re-register please do. Hopefully this cleans things up going forward (and let me know if you are blocked by mistake!)

I am thinking of moving the library to google code or codeplex, so this may happen in the coming weeks. I have also been receiving a lot of requests for documentation, so I will look at building helpfiles again. I used to use sandbox, but their web documentation is asp.net, and this server is a linux machine, so I’ll see what I can do.

Black Box Development

In late 2008/early 2009 I made the transition from full time engineering to full time Black Box trading software and strategy development. The past several months have certainly been exciting times in the financial markets, and proven to be very good for automated strategies.

I will still be maintaining the IbAPI open source library (just saw IB posted a 9.62 beta), and if anything will be more responsive now.

I am also always interested in discussing interesting opportunities, so please continue to drop me a line at email hidden; JavaScript is required

I’m Back!

Sorry for the long hiatus, I have just returned following my wedding (It was an amazing outdoor wedding in northern California, and my wife and I couldn’t be happier!), and am pleasantly surprised to see that this site has gone on to generate a fair amount of traffic (we’re up to 27 subscribers from 9 when I left).

A special thanks to CASTrader for his article Machines in the Market and to Jacqueline Emigh for her article Best of Blogs as they appear to be largely responsible for this blog’s discovery! I will be sure to return the favor in the future!

As part of my return, I would just like to annunciate some goals for this blog’s growth, and as an indication that I intend to maintain this site.

By August 31^st I plan to achieve the following

100 RSS subscribers
200 unique visitors per day
An average of 5 posts / week
45 minutes or less per post (It currently takes an hour or two per article style post!)

I am also looking to publish a maintained version of a native socket based interface to Interactive Brokers API. I should have this up shortly, and then will begin work on some data smoothing indicators.

No this blog does not cover the incredible Hollywood technology used to bring dinosaurs back to life in Jurassic Park.

And while I think the American Museum of Natural History is fascinating. I do not intend to cover their high tech new exhibit.

Nor will I cover that Ptero-dactyle (the giant flying dinosaur) is in fact a Pterosaur and is not really a dinosaur!

Instead, it will cover the development of an Automated Trading System, Interesting stories on Robotics and Technology (I have spent eight years developing unmanned vehicles), The development of this and other websites, a Kite Aerial Camera System (KAP), and a few ramblings from a young dinosaur.

For those of you wondering where the name dinosaur came from, my beautiful fiancé’s nickname for me is “dinosaur hair”… and depending on the day… “dinosaur breath”. She is also the one who insisted on the pink dinosaur to the right!
